While The Amazing Spiderman is still being shot, the makers have already decided that the script for the subsequent film will also be written by James Vanderbilt who wrote the Spiderman reboot flick.
James Vanderbilt who wrote Amazing Spiderman will be back for the continuation of the series. Apparently, he had a meeting with the Spider-Man filmmakers and studio execs on March 24 outlining his take, getting a thumbs-up, and will now begin writing.
Vanderbilt was onboard with the Spiderman team even before the reboot version was conceptualized. He scripted Spiderman 4 when Sam Raimi was slated to direct the succeeding film but the script was shelved. However, the makers had loved Vanderbilt’s character-focused version as opposed to a special-effects oriented script and called him on board to script the reboot as well.
Vanderbilt has earlier scripted movies like Basic and Zodiac and is also working on a Total Recall remake.
The Amazing Spiderman is being directed by Marc Webb and is expected to wrap shoot by mid-April. It stars Andrew Garfield in the lead role and will be the first film in the series to not feature Mary Jane Watson. Avi Arad, Laura Ziskin and Matt Tolmach are producing the current movie as well as the sequel. The 3D Spiderman film is scheduled to release on July 3, 2012.
