After the Superman and Spiderman series get revisited, it’s now Batman’s turn to go reboot. Even as The Dark Knight Rises is yet to complete filming, Warner Bros. chief Jeff Robinov states that there would be a continuation in the form of a reboot.
Says Robinov, “We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman... Chris Nolan and producing partner and wife Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”
However, director Christopher Nolan who literally resurrected the Batman series declared last year that The Dark Knight Rises will be the last Batman film that he’d direct. Without Nolan most of the cast would not be there and the concept will change completely.
If the Batman series gets reinvented, chances are that Nolan would helm it which is something hinted by actors Christian Bale and Gary Oldman. Bale said that he’d definitely want to suit up again for a fourth Batman movie provided Nolan directs it which is a fair possibility. Said Bale, “All I know is the likelihood that this will be the last one. Well, I wouldn't say definitely. I always assumed it would be three, but I could be wrong.”
Whereas Oldman stated, “Well, Chris is always negotiating, so when he says that (The Dark Knight Rises) is the last one I don't know. He kind of brings it around to Batman Begins.”
The director's brother, Jonathan Nolan, has written the script of The Dark Knight Rises from an idea conceived by Nolan and David S. Goyer. The cast also
includes Tom Hardy as the villain Bane, Anne Hathaway as Batman’s love interest Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in an unspecified role, possibly that of mobster and serial killer Alberto Falcone.
